Admittedly, this outfit wasn’t on my list right from the start. In between all of Clara’s lovely dresses and cool clothes, the ITFOTN outfit just didn’t speak to me at all. I eventually got the jumper because it was cheap, but I wasn’t planning on getting the jacket – mainly because the ID of it was unknown to me for a very long time. With a bit of help from other cosplayers, I eventually learned that the jacket in question was the Y.A.S. Rosie Suede Jacket and the colour was named “camel”. Still, I didn’t really plan on buying it because it was never actually seen on Clara apart from the slung around the waist and the website that still sold it at that time had it listed for quite a high price. However, I quite liked the look of the jacket on the official product photos, so I kept an eye out for it just in case.

Three weeks ago, I got extremely lucky and for the first time, I actually saw this jacket being sold on a second-hand website. I didn’t hesitate and bought it immediately because the seller only wanted £20 for a jacket that was basically brand new. Yesterday, the jacket reached me at last and I have zero regrets – and I can now give you a full review of the item only a few Claras can actually tell you something about. Apart from myself, I know only one other Clara who owns it, so if you have any questions about this jacket, don’t hesitate to ask them even though I will do my best to cover everything in this post.

First of all, the jacket is, as you may have guessed, rare. I looked for it for maybe two years before the first one crossed my path even though I’ve seen a few alt colours around. The thing is, you may not find it under the brand name Y.A.S. as I had previously mentioned in a post. While I was looking for it, I tried to figure out what kind of shops would sell that particular brand and because I found an alt colour jacket listed as Vero Moda, I concluded that this shop must have sold them and that maybe, you will find this jacket listed under that brand. When I received the jacket yesterday, I got confirmation because the label indeed mentioned Y.A.S. as well as Vero Moda. The seller I bought it from mentioned they had bought the jacket at a shop called Edition. If you’re really looking for this jacket, try all of these search terms and you may get lucky. I got mine on Vinted, but you may search Depop and eBay as well.

When I bought the jacket, I was a little worried that it might be too big for me because I’m a usual UK6/8 in jackets apart from Topshop and the one I bought was a EU38/UK10. Luckily for me, the jacket runs very small and even though it fits me perfectly, I had some trouble zipping it up over the dress form. If you’re looking to buy this jacket, go up a size or two because it’s very, very small. Once again, the size of the EU38/UK10 of this jacket can be compared to a UK6 of the River Island Faux Leather Jacket.

As mentioned above, the original retail price of this jacket was quite high. While this website lists the jacket as previously available for £170, the seller I got it from said they paid £110. Maybe they found it on sale, but you can safely assume that most sellers will have bought it for over £100 and that, therefore, it might be a little more on the expensive side. I was lucky and got it for only £20 because my seller was desperate to clear out her wardrobe.

Another reason why the jacket might be a little more expensive is the fact that the material of the outer shell is 100% real leather (the lining is 100% polyester). If you love the feeling of suede, you will love this jacket. Touching it feels amazing and it gives the jacket a really nice look, too. Overall, the jacket is super pretty. I love everything about it from the colour to the draping waterfall collar and I can easily see myself wearing this out and about a lot in spring because the camel colour just looks amazing with blue jeans. It also has practical pockets even though they’re not really that big.

Since Vero Moda made a couple of similar looking jackets, it can be a bit of a challenge to figure out whether you’re looking at the SA jacket, but there are some unique bits that you can watch out for. There is a sort of triangle on the back that is pointing down, it has shoulder patches and an asymmetrical zip. See my photos for details. However, the colour of the jacket is quite hard to capture in photos. I did my very best to keep it accurate, but if you’re looking at photos from a seller who used a phone camera, the colour might look a little different. In the photos I took with my phone, the colour looked very desaturated. Bear that in mind while searching for it.

Overall, I really, really love this jacket and more than I had thought I would. Not only does it complete the In the Forest of the Night outfit, it will also make a lovely addition to my spring wardrobe this year. If you’re looking for Y.A.S. Rosie Suede Jacket, prepare to be patient and search for a while, but I can promise you that it’s an item that is definitely worth the wait.
