This is another highly sought-after item from Clara’s wardrobe that I am proud to call my own and it’s probably the one I wear outside of cosplay most often. It’s just a very practical and nice-looking blazer that goes with almost everything.
First of all, the blazer comes in two different lengths. The shorter one was worn by Clara Oswald in Hide and Listen. If you’re unsure whether you’re about to buy the right version, ask the seller to measure the distance between the last button and the hem. The SA version should be around 12,5cm, but seeing as the difference is hard to judge just by looking at it, you’ll probably be fine with either version.
The blazer itself is basically just a simple, elegant, navy blazer with pockets. If yours doesn’t have pockets, you can open them with a pair of nail scissors because they’re merely sewn shut. The first version I owned had closed pockets and I didn’t even think that they might be real pockets until I received my second blazer in a different size where they had been opened already. Sadly, this is quite a rare item, but I’ve seen a couple of them on Vinted occasionally. The outer shell is made of 70% polyester and 30% elastane whereas the lining is 100% polyester.
The blazer runs true to size, but it’s supposed to look a little oversized, so a size up won’t be too bad. I owed a size M before I found a smaller size and it looked fine on me, but since I’m usually a size XS in blazers, I ended up settling for the S as it had the nicer fit. Had I worn it strictly for cosplay purposes and not in everyday life, I probably would have been satisfied with the larger size as well.
I’m assuming the original retail price on this blazer was quite high because the two I bought weren’t exactly cheap for a second-hand item, the smaller size being a bit cheaper. I’d place them between £20 and £45 in Vinted, but I haven’t seen any on any other platform so far. Or maybe I’m just not looking hard enough. If you don’t really care about screen accuracy in this case, there are some really good alts available from all kinds of brands (UO, H&M, …). Just looking for navy blazers will probably give you a very nice result. If it has to be the SA for you, you will most likely need a little patience. Again, if you’re buying from a cosplayer, the price can go up a little, but I wouldn’t recommend paying too much for it. My first blazer already came with a ripped seam and I assume it can easily happy, especially if you wear it a lot.
