Here comes a review of one of Clara’s “jewellery” pieces (if the badge can be considered jewellery and just to make searching easier for you, I’ll also file it under “accessories”). The badge is used by the German Bundeswehr and can be found all over eBay for varying prices. If you search for “Bundeswehr Luftwaffe Abzeichen” (translation: Bundeswehr airforce badge), you will most likely find several results. If you don’t, check back a few days later because whenever I checked, I was able to find some (make sure you display international results because most do come from Germany).
I bought one for under £10 (including postage) in a silvery colour and used the same antique gold spray I already used on my eagle necklace to turn it gold so it looks like the one Clara wore in NiS. There are solid gold versions of this badge available on eBay, but unless you want to spend a fortune, I would suggest going for a less valuable version. Gold spray paint can be found at any hardware shop or bought online as well.
The badge has pretty big pins that go through the fabric of your jacket and if mine wasn’t a £3 alt, I would probably not do that to my expensive All Saints jacket, but several cosplayers have come up with different ideas like using safety pins. I’ve even heard about glueing magnets to the badge and attaching the other side to the inside of the jacket. I’m sure there are many ways to make sure the badge stays on your jacket without ruining it and the badge is a great way to complete your NiS cosplay that is very easy to find.
