Those of you who have already started their Clara collection will probably hate Sessun items because of how rare they are. I got my jumper pretty late thanks to the help of another cosplayer with contacts in France. If you want to collect, I’d suggest befriending a French person because it will make getting some of Clara’s items a lot easier 😀
Like I said, this jumper is quite rare. I attempted bidding on this kind of jumper on eBay a couple of times, but every time I tried, the item sold for over £70 which was a lot more than I was willing to spend on it. Sessun is one of Clara’s more expensive preferred brands and since the item is quite rare, the combination makes for expensive eBay auctions. You’re more likely to find this jumper cheaper on the French side of the internet, but I’ve had mixed experiences with dealing with French sellers and not all were willing to ship to a different country. My favourite response that I got from a French person was about Clara’s S9 Maje shirt and said: “I don’t sell to foreigners”. But Vinted FR is still the most likely place where you can spot this jumper.
The difficulties of finding this item aside, it’s a really nice jumper. It is made out of merino wool and CAN NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO INTO THE WASHING MACHINE. Merino wool is hand wash only. I learned that the hard way with another jumper that had several holes after the first wash. Listen to your fellow cosplayer and hand wash merino wool items with specific wool detergent or you’ll risk holes in the fabric.
The jumper runs a bit small, so if you can only find the next size up, that will most likely turn out alright. I’m usually a size XS or S in jumpers and my M fits me perfectly. That aside, the jumper is hidden under the denim jacket at all times, so if your jumper doesn’t fit you 100%, no one will know.
At this point, I would also like to talk about a perfect alt that is available for this rare jumper that pops up a little more often and because the jumper doesn’t actually get any screen time apart from the collar, you can wear the Boden alt instead. Here are two comparison photos of both jumpers:
On the right, you see the SA Sessun jumper and the Boden jumper on the left. There are only a few small differences between the two jumpers. The Sessun collar overlaps just a little while the Boden one doesn’t. There is also a slight difference in colour with the Boden jumper being more of a lighter navy colour than the Sessun one and the collar of the Boden jumper being more plum than rusty red. While Boden isn’t exactly a cheap brand, it’s still slightly less expensive than the SA Sessun jumper because most people are looking for the SA one on eBay. In my opinion, both jumpers will do just fine.
The jacket I use to display the outfit on my dress form is an alt from Primark that I found for £3 (including postage). I look at the SA All Saints jacket every once in a while, but this is one of the items that has just always been a little too expensive for me. I simply don’t like it enough to spend £100 and more because I would never wear it, so here I am with my £3 alt, waiting for a miracle 😀
