First of all, the Clara Oswald cosplay community is still quite torn when it comes to this item. Until recently, the commonly known ID to this cardigan was that it was the grey/purple version of the same brand as you can see here:
When I started to search for this cardigan, I came across a forest green version and I went back to watch the scenes in which Clara wore the cardigan and I wasn’t entirely sure if the grey/purple one really was the right ID. In the window scene, it does look a lot more green than grey, but in the TARDIS where the lighting is quite off, it does look more like grey. So I asked a few fellow cosplayers and some of us agreed that the version Clara wore was indeed the green one, judging by the scene with the more natural light. However, there are still some Claras who insist it’s the grey one (looking at you, Katie!). A fellow cosplayer and I often argue (playfully, not really) about what colour the cardigan really is and we took a test photographing the cardigans we have under different conditions and when I cranked up the exposure, my green one suddenly looked just as grey as the product photo of the one that’s actually grey.
After pausing the episode at this spot, I am now convinced that the cardigan is actually the green one. The question, however, remains: which green one? Yes, there are at least two different shades of this green cardigan and now, it’s only guesswork which one Clara actually wore. My version of the cardigan is more of a petrol shade and has a smooth, slightly thicker material (apart from the lapel part which is more on the softer, lighter side, the one thing all of the cardigans have in common). I ordered another green cardigan for another cosplayer and when it arrived, I was quite surprised by the different material as it was a bit rougher and thinner than I remember from my own. So I fetched my own cardigan from my wardrobe and was surprised to find that not only were they made from different materials, they also had a slightly different shade of green. While mine is more petrol, the other one was a forest green.
I took a close up photo during which my phone messed up the exposure, but I think it might hold a clue as to which cardigan Clara actually wore because in this shot, the cardigan underneath (the forest green one with the rougher, thinner material) looks almost grey.
I stand by what I said and I’m 100% convinced that Clara was wearing a green cardigan and not actually a grey one in the episode. I’m not entirely sure which one, but judging from the last photo, my money would be on the one made from rougher, thinner material. Whatever cardigan you get your hands on though will do very well for your Clara cosplay because as I’ve pointed out, even the cosplay community is split on that matter.

A fellow cosplayer, the sweet Katie a.k.a. oswaldcosplay, met Jenna at Wales Comic Con yesterday and asked her about the colour of the cardigan. Jenna herself confirmed that the cardigan she wore on set was green, so we can finally call the big cardigan debate over.
The cardigan itself is a lovely item and I simply can’t resist a green item of clothing, so this quickly became an item I love to wear even outside of cosplay. It’s more on the rarer side of Clara items, but with a bit of patience it will most definitely pop up on eBay or some other place and the usual price I’ve seen them sell for is around £5 – £15.
I would also say that it runs true to size. I bought a size XS because I have never seen a size S around so far and it fits me well even though it could be a little looser around the shoulders. If you’re a Clara with broad shoulders, you might want to consider sizing up so it looks like it does on Clara. Whether you buy the grey or green version doesn’t actually matter (but green is prettier). The exterior of this cardigan is 100% rayon and the lining 100% polyester.
The cardigan has a really nice looking waterfall collar and is really soft and light which makes it perfect to wear on top of a dress or a blouse like Clara does.
