Here comes another item that is very well loved among Clara cosplayers and easier to come by than most of her clothes. The Topshop Diamond Print blouse has become something like a “starting piece” and it was also one of the first items I bought when I started cosplaying her.
The blouse is very easy to come by and often pops up on Depop, but also eBay and Vinted, and I’m sure that if you look around for a bit, you will find one in your size without having to spend a fortune. Even among cosplayers, this item is one of the cheaper ones and usually sells between £15 and £25. If you wait for a cosplay muggle to upload it, you will find it even cheaper.
The blouse comes in Topshop petite, tall and regular sizes and runs quite true to size. I first owned a UK8 Petite but found that it was rather short on me even though I’m barely taller than Jenna, but it kept sliding out of the trousers, so I bought a UK10 Regular next. The blouse had the desired length, but I was surprised to find that the size itself wasn’t any different. I think it was maybe 2cm wider than the UK8. If you have a larger cup size, however, it might be better to size up.
I am not a fan of buying cosplay items I won’t wear outside of cosplay photos, so naturally, I often wear this one around the office. The blouse is made of a really soft material (100% viscose), but one thing that has bugged me from the beginning is that it wrinkles as soon as you just so much as look at it. I don’t know how they managed to film the episode with the blouse looking as wrinkle-free as it does on Jenna. She probably had to take it off between takes to have it ironed XD
Another thing that isn’t quite visible from what you see in the episode is the colour. On telly, the blouse looks almost white, but when I received it, it was almost a beige colour and quite a bit darker than I had expected.
Overall, it’s a really cute Clara item that will definitely get some wear even outside of cosplay, but you will find yourself ironing this quite a lot. If you hate ironing, you should consider a steamer. I got one of those for Christmas last year because I was so used to having one at my old workplace that I wanted one for personal use as well. And if you’re too lazy even for that, hang it next to the shower, but some sort of smoothing out will most definitely be required here.
