Item: ASH Cool Wedge Sneakers
Appearance: Flatline, Face the Raven

Original Retail Price: around £170 (according to Lyst)

First of all, the ASH wedges are a pair of Clara’s more comfortable shoes and they’re much more suitable for running than the heels she normally wears. I don’t know why she doesn’t wear these all the time because I do and I certainly would if I ran the danger of being chased by aliens after my work shift. When I received my first pair (the ASH Bowie wedges then which many people use as alts), I didn’t want to take them off because they were so comfortable and really go well with a lot of everyday outfits. I think they run a tad small and if you’re in between sizes, I would advise you to size up. I’m a UK 4.5 and my UK5 pair couldn’t be smaller.

ASH shoes can be found all over the internet: eBay, Depop, Vinted, Vestiaire Collective, Videdressing and I think the struggle isn’t to find a pair, but to find it in your size and at a decent price. The original retail price was quite high. ASOS is listing them with an original price of £200, so you might have to pay a little more for your pair if you don’t want them to be too run down by the previous owner. However, you can get lucky because my pairs ranged between £8 and £45, but I wasn’t in a hurry to get them and bided my time until a good offer came along. Also, the ASH Bowie wedges are, in my experience, a tad cheaper than the Cool wedges and look basically the same.

So if you’re not dead set on being 100% SA or if you want to save a bit of money, you can go for the Bowie wedges like I did at first and I can promise you that only the most dedicated cosplayers will be able to tell the difference (and the most dedicated cosplayers know how expensive cosplaying can be and they won’t judge you for buying the slightly cheaper alternative). The main difference between the two of them is the thickness of the sole which is a bit thinner on the Bowie wedges. Apart from that, there are small pattern differences on the side of the shoe and that’s about it. Because I own both, I had a chance to really compare both shoes and I couldn’t find anything else.

Whether you go for the Cool or Bowie wedges, you’ll most definitively want two of them. They quickly became one of my favourite everyday shoes and they complete three cosplay outfits. So what’s not to love about them?
