The amount of time I spent searching for this item can almost be considered unholy. I had a good alt, but even though the blouse itself isn’t actually visible in this scene, I felt determined to own it and it took an eternity to find. It was really one of my later items in 2017 when I already owned the majority of Clara’s wardrobe.
The blouse itself is quite rare (though not as rare as other Clara items), but the real problem is that &Other Stories made around four different blouses with the same kind of frill neck that all look similar. I kept finding the other versions and annoying other cosplayers by asking if I had found the SA one. As you can imagine, I had many disappointments. In summer 2017, I found the real deal at last!
If you’re not obsessed with screen accuracy, any of the other blouses with the frill neck will do just fine under the jumper and there are alts from other companies (H&M, ASOS, …) as well that you can use. For me, it was mainly stubbornness that made me go after the SA one cause I kept finding the alts but never the real one. If you’re like me and you want the real thing, bear in mind that it might take a while to find it. Again, I would suggest the regular sites: Vinted, eBay and Depop. At some point, they just have to pop up.
I’m not entirely sure what the original retail price was, but &Other Stories blouses are usually between £50 and £80, so you can calculate what you might pay for a second-hand one. Buying from cosplayers might be more expensive. Most &Other Stories alts I’ve seen and my SA blouse sold around £20 – £25.
Like most &Other Stories clothes, the blouse runs very big. You can size down without being afraid of it not fitting. You might even be able to go down two sizes because it’s really quite large. The blouse itself is very light and made of 100% cotton.
I will provide you with some more detailed pictures because of all the alt versions that float around on the internet. The SA blouse has buttons all the way down the back (while another version with a frill neck has only a few buttons on the back of the neck) and ¾ sleeves. The colour is a creamy white. At first glance, it’s really not easy to tell the SA from the other alts, but I hope that my pictures will help you determine whether a blouse is the SA or not.
